The dormant Thrihnukagigur volcano in Iceland is the only place on earth where a huge volcanic magma chamber is accessible to humans. The visit enables you to enjoy many of the most amazing things Iceland has to offer – a great mixture of nature, history and adventure.

After arriving at the Blafjoll Mountain Cabin you will walk 3.3 km / 1.8 miles across a beautiful lava field (about 45 minutes) before arriving at the volcano. Descend 120m/400ft through the top crater and down to the ground floor of the magma chamber, accompanied by experienced and well trained guides. After an hour’s visit exploring the inside of the volcano you will be able to enjoy Icelandic refreshments before heading back to the city. Don’t forget to bring with you rainproof outdoor clothing (the temperature inside the crater is about 5-6°C), gloves, bottle of water and hiking shoes.
